Honeybush is a fynbos species which grows wild in the Cape Floral Kingdom, recognised as a unique world heritage area. Honeybush derives its name from the honey-scented flowers and the tea’s slightly sweet honey-like taste.
Sceletium
Sceletium is a succulent occurring naturally in the Karoo and Namaqualand, South Africa. It has been used by the San people for centuries to reduce hunger cravings, thirst and fatigue. It has calming and mood-elevating effects. Traditionally it was chewed, but was also brewed as a tea, or smoked.

WHO WE ARE
Established in 2010
Sceletia is a supplier and wholesaler of branded Honeybush herbal tea. We intend to expand our range into other indigenous herbal teas that, as in the case of our existing product, are not only pleasant-tasting but also boast scientifically proven health and wellness benefits.
Sceletia was born at the end of 2010 in Plettenberg Bay, not far from the Tsitsikama mountains and the Langkloof where we source our Honeybush. Partly-bred in Plettenberg Bay until 2012 Sceletia then set up headquarters in Stellenbosch in 2013 where it has been based since.
From the start we slowly but surely spread the distribution of our product from the Garden Route into other parts of South Africa, with outlets in Cape Town and Johannesburg, and are now well represented in the Western Cape, Gauteng and the Garden Route, whilst we have some outlets in the Eastern Cape, KZN, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and on the West Coast.
Whilst we supply some of our retail outlets directly, Sceletia tea, in the main, is distributed by energetic, dedicated and knowledgeable distributors. Our product is available in over 300 outlets in South Africa, including Dischem country-wide, a number of smaller but specialised retail groupings such as Wellness Warehouse and Montagu Trading Company and in almost 200 independent retail-outlets.
Our Honeybush is (sustainably) wild-harvested(thus completely organic) in the Tsitsikama mountains near Kareedouw and Joubertina in the Langkloof, South-Eastern Cape. It is processed(cut, fermented, dried and sieved) by an organic and HACCP-approved processor in the Langkloof and mixed(with small quantities of Sceletium, a succulent growing in the Klein Karoo and Namaqualand) and packed by a long-established, reputable and food safety-approved packer, King’s Products, near Graafwater/Clanwilliam on the West Coast.
We pride ourselves in the personal attention given by our distributors to the retailers stocking Sceletia and the marketing support, in the form of advertising display material and samples, provided to them.
